.RESOLUTION PASSED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE
NATIONAL CONFEDERATION OF COOPERATIVES (NATCCO)
... NATCCO is one of the largest cooperative groups in the Philippines, strong enough to garner a seat in the House of Representatives through the party-list system. It groups together the regional cooperative federations and development centers, namely, the Northern Luzon Federation of Cooperatives and Development Centers (NORLUCEDEC), Cagayan Valley Confederation of Cooperatives (CAVALCO), Cooperatives Education and Development Center (CEDC), Tagalog Cooperative Development Center (TAGCODEC), Bicol Cooperative Development Center (BCDC), Visayas Cooperative Development Center (VICTO), MASS-SPECC Cooperative Development Center (MASS-SPECC), and Coop-Life Mutual Benefit Services Association (CLIMBS).

NATTCO held its annual General Assembly in Iloilo City last May 21, and among the resolutions the body passed was one calling for focused education for cooperative leaders and members on the principle of synergism. This resolution was proposed and moved for adoption by Caridad Maalid of the Visayas Center for Cooperative Development (VICTO), and seconded by Mr. Bernardo Balangatan. With clarification sought by Antonio Arañas of MASS-SPECC provided by a resource person (Ed Aurelio C. Reyes, representative of Sen. Ramon Magsaysay, Jr. and president of Saniblakas ng Taongbayan Foundation) to the effect that appropriate implementation mechanisms shall be left to be worked out by NATCCO and by its members after the General Assembly, the resolution was unanimously approved, with Mr. Cristeto B. Oliva Oliva of BCDC, who was NATCCO Board Chairman, presiding.

... RESOLUTION CALLING FOR NATCCO TO PROMOTE A FOCUSED EDUCATION ON THE PRINCIPLE OF SYNERGISM TO BE INTEGRATED INTO COOPERATIVE EDUCATION FOR LEADERS AND MEMBERS
.
WHEREAS, synergism has been defined as the principle of magnification of the combined capability of people working closely together in healthy teamwork, the fusion to create a newer dimension broader than the totality of the parts;
.
WHEREAS, NATCCO upholds the Basic Principles of Cooperatives as articulated by the International Cooperative Alliance, and believes that these principles can best be upheld if done in the spirit and maximum application of the principle of synergism;
.
WHEREAS, we are in full agreement with the message to this Assembly of Sen. Ramon Magsaysay Jr., chairman of the Senate Committee on Cooperatives in saying that "synergism…is basically the heart and soul of cooperativism," and with former Bulacan Gov. Roberto Pagdanganan who wrote that our work "is in synergy with (the) voice for ethical reformation and meaningful reforms"; and

WHEREAS, NATCCO has the capability to contribute substantially to the present efforts to promote a sharper enlightenment of cooperative leaders and members on effective application of the principle of synergism on cooperative work, which would, in turn, contribute substantially to the sharper enlightenment on this principle among the entire Filipino nation;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved by the NATCCO General Assembly now convened, that NATCCO officially promote within itself, and in its sphere of influence, a focused education on the principle of synergism and its applications in cooperativism, and integerate such in NATCCO's cooperative education;
.
BE IT RESOLVED, FURTHER, that NATCCO and its members explore and forge arrangements with academic and similar institutions in pursuance of this resolution; and
.
BE IT RESOLVED, FINALLY, that NATCCO and its members generate whatever additional resources shall be necessary if this focused education efforts cannot be accommodated or otherwise covered within the existing education programs.
